budaya populer = propaganda media?

kebudayaan kalau menurut saya pribadi adalah jadi diri dari setiap orang. you can guess her/his attitude and little bit her/his personality by their choice of culture.
yang menarik perhatian saya adalah sebuah paragraf yang cukup panjang dari buku karangan Chris Barker yang berjudul "Cultural Studies - Teori dan Praktik"
disitu ditulis bahwa salah satu varian batas kultural tinggi-rendah, dan juga mereproduksi "inferioritas" budaya populer adalah argumen yang meremehkan budaya berbasis-komiditas sebagai tidak autentik, manipulatif, dan tidak memuaskan.
dan disini saya ingin mengemukakan pendapat saya tentang budaya yang manipulatif tersebut.
budaya populer berkembang cepat dengan bantuan dari media. lebih spesifiknya lagi saya akan membahas tentang budaya cantik bagi perempuan.
media menggembor-gembor kan segala macam produk kecantikan seperti krim pemutih kulit, kapsul pelangsing sampai berbagai macam iklan tentang cosmetic surguries.
semua itu berintikan satu hal: cantik = tinggi, langsing, putih.

i have a friend named Dyah. dia adalah gadis jawa yang manis, yang lumanyan tinggi dan kurusnya kalau menurut saya sih, kurus banget-banget.
tapi dia sendiri menganggap kalau dia itu gemuk. bahkan satu kali di twitternya dia menyamakan dirinya dengan Pretty Asmara. holy craaap?!

teman saya itu contoh satu kasus dari budaya populer yang di bombardirkan oleh media. saya menyebutnya propaganda media. Adorno dan Horkheimer malah memunculkan istilah "industri budaya"
yang perlu jadi perhatian disini adalah, persepsi cantik didalam diri.
trust me, every woman in this planet have their own beauty.
entah kulit mereka putih, coklat, kuning, hitam, hijau, biru atau apapun itu.
entah rambut mereka lurus, keriting, zig-zag, do not ever trust media opinion about beauty.

jika anda percaya bahwa anda cantik, maka anda memang cantik. it's all about auto-sugesstion.

such an easy word with a very hard and heavy meaning
they says that you will know what is the real meaning of love when you're falling in love
well, i've been in love and the truth is that's not a nice experience.
i fell in love and i fell hard.
i let my emotion took control everything
i let my love took control everything
and it ended bad. messy. and hurtful

i have this amazing friend named anggi
she's saner, nicer, wiser and smarter than me
but it seems even the smartest, wisest, nicest and sanest person still can be broken causes by this thing called love.

i don't really understand why they calling it "FALLING in love"
well, my guess because it always ended hurtful.
all i know is
falling makes you sad.
falling makes you mad.
and suddenly falling makes you love?
what the hell?!

but all i know, everybody's looking for love
they search love
they feed love
they love love

so, if i may conclude about love,
the one who's seek and search for love is the masochist one.
they enjoy the pain and the tears caused by love.
they enjoy the high of being chased and chase love
how stupid.

what i want and what i need

human needs as Prof. Maslow explained to us in his hierarchy of human needs theory, it always begin with basic needs and then go on to safety needs and then to social needs and last, to personal needs.
first we need food to survive after that we need shelter and protection. after we gain all of that, we start to feel some urges to socialize.
the relationship exist because of this need. man and woman relationship.
yeah, i like to talk about that kind relationship. because it seems after, ehmm, i don't know, couples centuries, anthropologists have hundred of research about human relationship but no one ever seem to figure it out right.

well, i'm not an anthropologist but i had an experience about that. it involves about need and want.
sometimes need and want aren't exactly at the same page. sometimes what we want is not necessarily what we need or vice versa.
for example, when i see a pair of beautiful shoes, i want it. i want those shoes. but, is that true that i need those shoes?
i want that guy, but is that true that i need that guy?
or in the other hand, i feel like i need that guy, but the truth is, i don't really want that guy.
confusing huh?

so, how can we solve this kind of problem?
with simply leave it all simple and casual?
by not taking a risk to love?
the truth is i prefer with not taking a risk to love. keep it simple and casual between you and a guy.
because that kind of relationship is more easier than emotional-i-love-and-want-to-live-with-you-forever-kind-of relationship.
you don't do the heart-to-heart chit chat
you don't have to pretend that you're give a shit about his feeling.
you just do some "simbiosis mutualisme". win-win solution.

but, we are only live once.
so, why not? why don't we take that risk
a risk to love and beloved?
